Warts are small lesions on the genital or inside the urethra. Most genital warts are caused by HPV — types 6 and 11. Genital warts can appear in the mouth or genital area — the vulva, vagina, cervix, rectum, anus, penis, or scrotum. They are passed from one person to another by skin-to-skin contact, usually during sexual activity. Costs of surgery depends on the number of warts and their location.

In men, genital warts are not as common as in women. In men they often appear on the tip of the penis but they can also appear around the anus. Most types of warts will appear between one to three months after infection. Many times warts in women may be unknown and she might continue to transmit it her partner.
